Kia’s Eco-Friendly Lineup Earns Low Carbon Award

Are you under the impression that hybrid vehicles are the only low emission producing cars?  If so, it might not be your fault since many auto manufactures have painted this picture in a way. Kiefer Kia is here to tell you that brands (i.e., Kia) are starting to buck this trend. Let's look at the 2012 Rio, for example. Emitting less than 85g/km, it produces less pollution than all other non-Electric Vehicles available on the market. And, with 30 mpg city/ 40 mpg hwy, it also ranks up there with EVs for gas mileage. The important disparity between the new Kia Rio and Electric Vehicles and hybrids, would be the sticker price. You could be drving a new Kia Rio for as little as $13,400.  That's quite a bargain if you ask us, especially when you consider the fuel savings.  Fortunatly, there are even more Kia vehicles with these stats.

Kia has made it their priority to create vehicles that are enjoyable to drive, efficient, aesthetically appealing and reliable, but also very environmentally friendly. After analyzing Kia's technologies and tactics available in their models, UK magazine What Car? has decided the South Korean automaker worthy of their prestigious Low Carbon Award.

Is this a good representative of the new Kia? The answer is yes and no.  While these new initiatives and awards are great, its actually not the first time What Cars? has been involved with Kia. The Kia Picanto (not currently available in the U.S.) was distinguished at the magazine's 2011 Green Awards, this past summer as well.
