Clearance is tighter on the Seltos than on the Sportage or Telluride, and aftermarket lift kit support is very limited. To be straight with you: if significant lift options are what you’re after, the Seltos platform isn’t there yet. For light trail use on unpaved forest roads and boat ramps, though, a tire upgrade alone makes a real, noticeable difference.

Not every Sportage trim comes with all-wheel drive, and that distinction is the primary fitment variable for any trail build. FWD-only trims lack the rear differential and AWD electronics that make aggressive tire upgrades worthwhile. Confirm AWD before investing in all-terrain rubber. On AWD trims, the factory bolt pattern opens up a solid selection of aftermarket wheels, including lightweight alloys designed specifically for trail use. Sticking close to factory offset keeps your suspension geometry intact. The 235/65R17 all-terrain Kia puts on the X-Pro from the factory is a proven size for this platform. For trail-oriented builds, many owners step down from a 20-inch to an 18-inch wheel with a taller-sidewall all-terrain tire. Most drivers focus on tread pattern when upgrading to all-terrain tires. Sidewall height and load rating are equally important, though, especially for Pacific Northwest terrain where trails mix rocky descents with roots, potholes, and stream crossings.

A 60 to 65 aspect ratio gives you more air volume to absorb impact and reduces pinch flat risk on sharp rocks. It also allows you to air down at the trailhead, which increases the tire’s contact patch and improves traction on loose surfaces. Load index 107 or higher is the benchmark for cargo-heavy builds.

Always verify your target tire meets or exceeds your vehicle’s GVWR requirements before purchasing. Running a lower load index than your vehicle demands can cause premature failure under towing or full-load conditions.
